NARBERTH, PENNSYLVANIA -- (February 1, 2017)  A recent consumer class action lawsuit brought against a Pennsylvania auto lender over its vehicle repossession practices yielded a valuable settlement for Pennsylvania consumers. The settlement provided cash, complete debt forgiveness, and credit report correction for each of the 900 class members.

Residual funds, approximately $42,000 which remained after distribution to the class, were approved by the court to be shared between North Penn Legal Services based in Bethlehem, and MidPenn Legal Services based in Harrisburg. Both organizations are non-profit and provide legal services for  low-income residents throughout the Lehigh Valley, Northeastern, and central Pennsylvania. In their efforts to provide free legal representation to the region's disadvantages, Legal Aid is to use these funds to further their mission to help people with matters involving consumer credit protection and counseling, foreclosure prevention, and advocacy on behalf of low-income consumers.
