Cary Flitter spoke on "Ten Things to Know about Credit Reporting" at the first in a series of Consumer Rights workshops hosted by Mt. Airy USA on Tuesday evening, April 18.
Cary explained a consumer's rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and steps that can be taken to maintain accuracy and privacy in one's credit reports. Local residents came prepared with questions concerning problems they'd encountered with credit reports, the process of getting credit approvals, and collection contact.
Mt. Airy USA, a non-profit in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, provides financial counseling to individuals in various aspects of consumer credit.
The second Consumer Rights workshop will be held on Tuesday evening, May 23, when Cary will speak on "Debt Collection: Common Violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act".
